allright, last post of March, just wanted to clear out the last of the random chicks I drew this month... so enjoy ...
Anyhow, just some chick wearing all black, was more an experiment to see if I can do that funky white line thing you see in black and white comics, really need to stop just using a chisel tip for most of these, prolly move on to a bullet point later on...
And the last one is again, me trying to use more fills... black and white is an interesting medium to use, that or I can always try the crosshatching but that'd look weird if you screw it up even slightly... so yeah... anyhow, that's it for March... see ya in April...

Random Chicks

Ugh, so I'm just updating with some images.. just random chicks...
see, I've got a sketchbook and I found a chisel pen I had, along with some pens and whatnot so I figure I'll start pencilling and inking in it cause well.. I don't usually use sketchbooks for more than random crap...
I'm still working on feet and hands, always a hassle... but I guess I'll get it eventually...
and that's all I got for this update, prolly do one more before March is up, that way I have a fresh batch for April...

More Marceline And A Puppet Thing

allright, so I found an old sketchbook I wasn't using, I mean, seriously... the last thing I did in it was in 2007 and it was about 3 pages of stuff in there... pretty sad I abandoned the book, but luckily it was found and now I'm using it as much as possible... my hope is that I can fill that book up entirely by the end of July... just some mind numbing madness... anyhow, on to drawing things...

I ended up drawing another Marceline, I think it came out allright... I think I need to work on putting Marceline and other characters together... something like a "sexy time" heh... I dunno... maybe too creepy?
I ended up posting that Marceline Lingerie pic, I did in an earlier post, to the Adventure Time Fan Art site, moderators let it pass through... lucky huh... anyhow, according to the twitter, Marceline has a new look for an upcoming episode, so I decided to draw her in that new style... had fun...
Next thing I drew was this puppet thingy... I really don't know what I was thinking with this, but it made me laugh and I realize that this is the kind of thing I'm gonna be filling this book up with, a bunch of nonsense that hopefully help me better draw things in the future...
That's all for this update, expect some Random chicks drawn in the next blog post... til then, enjoy and welcome to it...

What Time Is It?

Allright, so I've started to try my hand at Adventure Time, cause well.. actually I've already done this before, I mean the last post was a lot of Finn from AT, so this time I decided to do some Marceline... was sketching with red and an old sketchbook that has a lot of paper in it so I figured.. just use the whole page and ended up with the first pic of her...

I was pretty pleased with it, but decided to try to keep to the squiggle modelling that Marceline has... so I ended up drawing her in lingerie... it was originally gonna be boyshorts tanktop and socks, but I like her in lingerie... so although non-canon... still fun ...

That's all I've got this time around... hope to post more in the future, so thanks for dropping by ^^ until then, welcome to it...

Charlie Sheen and Other Sketches

Yeah, I tried my hand at a Charlie Sheen thing dealing with his rampant #Winner horsehockey, if you'll pardon the expression...

Seriously, what is wrong with this guy? I understand you want attention, but geez, how about some low key damage control first... We all know you're an idiot, granted a successful idiot, but you're still an idiot...

Anyway, Besides posting the image to my twitter, I was drawing/sketching some other stuff and came out with these two pics... still working on incorporating the styles into my regular style, at least in order to draw faster.. because I really want to become a story artist, it seems like the best job in the world... ever.

Drawing? All day and getting paid for it? and then you get to see the end product after helping with the groundwork of the picture? c'mon.. how cool is that?  So, still working on drawing faster and will eventually post something akin to sequential art with the style, just to see if I can get something together for a portfolio to send out...

That's all I got this time, I'll post more when I get something else to show that I feel doesn't look like utter bulltwinkies...

Adventure Time

Allright, so I'm trying my hand at some different drawing styles.. and I went ahead and tried some adventure time, I had fun drawing it, especially since I found some good Finn drawing tips...

I had fun drawing these and then decided to mess around and drew some Nightmare Time... cause, well.. why not? wanted to see Finn all monster-y... is that even a word?

The Broad Crotch

So I was looking at the cartoons and I'm seeing that almost every guy has a broad crotch... that's right, no connection of the jeans or pants, it's always a broad line and then long spindly legs...so I figured I'd try that out herer... about 5 sheets of paper and I condensed it to these two...

Anyhow, figure I'd post this, gonna keep at it learning this different style of drawing, and then move on to the next one before I'm too heavily influenced by this style... I mean, after all.. I still like my regular style...

Interactions

yeah, so I was drawing one image of Lauren and then looked at the pic and said to myself this needs some sort of interaction, alone it seemed as if it was missing a piece to the overall attitude... so I went back and added in the guy all twitterpated... anyone know if twitterpated is copyright Disney?  or was it a term before bambi came out?

also some random scribbles I was drawing the other day...

That's all I got for today...see ya next post...

Stylized Simplicity

okay, nothing to show today, prolly isn't going to be a daily blog anyway, but eh, what're'ya gonna do?  So I'm looking at different cartoons today and I'm realizing more and more that the way to draw them is getting more and more simplistic and stylized and they're all conforming into that odd flat, cookie cutter type model, granted I'm trying to figure out and learn that style, but it's just odd to see so many cartoons adopting a certain style.

I remember back in the day, shows like Capt. Planet, Jem, Thundercats, He-Man, Voltron, TMNT... all these shows had characters that were unique to their show but they all at least attempted to make the human figure look like the human figure, but now, the human figure has been degraded to the simplist of wavy and straight lines.

Danny Phantom, Fairly Odd Parents, Total Drama Island/Action/World Tour, Phineas and Ferb... all these shows and more are the new stylized human figure, drawing so that the characters look human, but keeping it simple and I suppose, for a lack of a better word, streamlined... everything is so damn... angular and simplistic and although it looks like it's difficult to draw, lo and behold, once you understand what they're doing there, it's rather easy to imitate.

Don't get me wrong though, I think the style is pretty cool, but I also enjoy the old way of drawing, where the figure reseambled a human figure instead of outward facing calves and straight lines from crotch to foot... there were occasionally more curves for the inside of the legs... the waist used to be more than a straight V line up to the shoulders and the heads used to be human heads, now the heads are lumpy, square and apple shaped, the hair used to flow, now the hair conforms to an extension of the head itself.

However, it's still an awesome stylized drawing... they all are.  I myself am practicing to expand on my knowledge base and to enhance what I can do now.  I look to most of these shows for inspiration because although the style is odd, it's still sound.  I look at how they constructed body types and how the arms go with the shoulders and it makes me realize how I can adopt that style into my own and it improves my working knowledge of how to connect all the dots, and that makes for a good style, regardless of the simplicity.

Stylized Drawing

Allright, so I'm starting this blog just to show some of what I'm working on, since I feel this may have a wider audience or maybe just a better unbiased opinion...

as you can see above the images are basically me trying different styles out to see if I can draw that way, gotta see if I can broaden my drawing ability.

so thanks for looking in on what hopefully will be a good place to post what I'm practicing and see how I improve over time.
